Community guidelines

The rules for jobwhat Communities — what's welcome, what isn't, and how moderation and appeals work.

Communities work because people can speak candidly without being identified. These rules protect that. You agree to them when you first join, and you can re-read them any time from Guidelines in the Community header. Version 1.

Welcome

  • Honest experiences of working somewhere: culture, management, interviews, benefits, pay ranges.
  • Your own pay and benefits, and public information (press, filings, public job posts).
  • Questions for current and former employees, and helping candidates.
  • Disagreement, as long as it's about ideas and companies, not people.

Not allowed

  1. No doxing or personal information. No names, photos, contact details, addresses, schedules or whereabouts of anyone who isn't a public figure — including coworkers and managers — and nothing that singles them out. Don't try to work out who is behind a handle.
  2. No harassment or hate. No insults, threats, slurs, sexual content, or targeting a person or group.
  3. No confidential material. No internal documents, customer data, unreleased financials, credentials, or anything you've agreed not to share.
  4. No unverified accusations. Don't state that an identifiable person committed a crime or misconduct as fact.
  5. No spam or selling. No ads, paid referrals, MLM, crypto or off-platform lures.
  6. No impersonation or fake badges. Employee and Former badges come from your résumé; keep it truthful.

You must be old enough to use jobwhat under its Terms of Service.

How moderation works

  • Every post is checked automatically before it appears. Posts that might break these rules are held for review; only you see them until a moderator decides.
  • Reports from members can hide a post pending review.
  • Moderators are volunteer members appointed by jobwhat, plus jobwhat staff. They see handles, trust levels and strike history, not identities.
  • Strikes: 1 → warning; 2 within 90 days → 24-hour mute; 3 → 7-day ban from the community and a staff review. Serious cases can lead to a ban from all communities.
  • Appeals: you can appeal any action once, within 14 days. A different moderator reviews it.

To report content that infringes your rights or the law, email abuse@jobwhat.app. jobwhat reviews requests within 72 hours and notifies the author unless legally barred.
